Before Waxing/Sugaring

Keeping these tips in mind will help to make your visit as comfortable and painless as possible. However, please keep in mind that it is impossible to predict how any individual’s skin will react, no matter how many precautions are taken. To fully experience the benefits of waxing/sugaring, it is important to maintain the schedule recommended by your Esthetician.

PRE:
  • Please allow 2 or more weeks of hair growth before your visit.

  • Arrive to your appointment freshly showered.

  • Do not apply self-tanner, moisturizer, or any abrasive body or facial scrubs.

  • We recommend wearing loose fitting clothes to your appointment, especially for services in the bikini area.

  • Try to limit caffeine intake as it can stimulate the nervous system.

  • Avoid taking pain medications, like Advil or Tylenol, as it can lead to adverse reactions including, but not limited to, thinning of the skin,
    dehydration, and bruising.

  • For services in the bikini area, attempt to schedule your appointment within the first 2 weeks after your cycle has ended (this is the time that you are less sensitive.) However, you can receive a service during your cycle, if you are able to wear a tampon; just anticipate additional sensitivity.

  • Certain products and medications can prevent us from providing hair removal services. These products include, but are not limited to: Accutane, Retin-A, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxyl Acid, Taxorac Avage, Differin, Strivectin, Renova, Proactiv, Avita, Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid.

After Your Wax/Sugaring

Remember exfoliant’s are your friend: Exfoliation removes the outer layer to reveal the newer skin beneath. This shedding of the outer layer unclogs pores, keeps skin clean, and allows your hair to grow freely. Wait 48 hours after your wax to exfoliate. For aftercare our salon carries exfoliation scrubs, soaps, & ingrown hair serums that you can choose from in our spa. We recommend exfoliating twice a week and applying our ingrown hair serum after exfoliation to reduce ingrowns.

FIRST 24 – 48 HOURS AFTER WAXING OR SUGARING:

  • Attempt to not sweat in the area where hair was removed.

  • Continue to wear loose fitting clothing. After a service in the bikini area specifically, do not wear underwear, if possible.

  • Do not take hot showers or soak in a bath.

  • Do not use lotions, oils, exfoliates, perfumes or deodorants, unless approved by your Wax Artist.

  • Do not go swimming (pools, lakes, oceans, hot tubs, etc.)

CONTINUED HOME CARE FOLLOWING WAXING SERVICE:

  • Avoid picking, plucking, and /or tweezing in between appointments. This can cause hair breakage resulting in stubble.

  • 24-48 hours after you service, moisturize you skin daily with a light oil (i.e olive oil, coconut oil, or sunflower oil).

  • 48-72 hours after service, begin to exfoliate your skin 3-5 times per week with a sugar or salt scrub.

  • We offer three types of sugar scrubs here at RGA Beauty Spa.

  • Coffee scrub: helps to reduce inflammation and radiates the skin.

  • Apricot and Bamboo Sugar Scrub helps to correct skin tones and moisturize the area.

  • Charcoal Sugar Scrub helps to remove toxins and bacteria from the skin

  • RGA also offer natural and organic soaps as well as a variety of essential oils to help with skin maintenance.

  • Be sure to wear cotton, natural, or organic fabrics around the area where hair was removed, if possible.
